so I am since the day before yesterday trying to make some short animation gifs for the first time in my life and as I don’t own a graphic pad the lines are quite messy sorry for that!
I saw this on my dash just as I started drinking my first cup of Monday coffee. Mondays require lots of coffee.
so metropolitan museum of art has a register of books they’ve published that are out of print and that you can download for free! they’re mostly books on art, archeology, architecture, fashion and history and i just think that’s super useful and interesting so i wanted to share! you can find all of the books available here!
Banksy hasn’t done anything cool for years until now, because having a painting automatically shred itself to bits immediately after being sold for over a million dollars is tight as Hell
I guess but it’s also likely that the painting increased in monetary value after being shredded.
It reminds me of something Giuseppe Pinot Gallizo did decades ago - he produced scrolls with abstract art on them - capable of being cut and measured like a generic commodity.
I guess it was a protest of the idea that art is unique object or resource, but he also found that it sold very well to collectors and the art world…
Anything that goes on in the modern art world - even protests - have a way of getting monetized and made irrelevant.
